Connell turned to Cummins Power Generation to provide standby power for a gold mining project in Western Africa.
Advanced Diesel installed seven C2500 generators, powered by Cummins QSK60G4 engines. Each is housed in a highly
customised and silenced ISO shipping container.
Advanced Diesel is one dealer in Cummins UK‚s sub-dealer network and specializes in custom and sound attenuation
generator packaging. This innovative, tailor-made solution for Connell Power shows them truly to be a one stop
shop.

A generator set from Cummins Power Generation powers a healthcare facility in Punjab, the largest province in Pakistan.
With a population of over 85 million people, Punjab is the largest province of Pakistan. Punjab has a network of
2,748 primary healthcare facilities spread over an area of 205,345 km2. Providing equal access to primary healthcare
is a mammoth task in a developing country with limited resources.
Recently, Cummins Power Generation helped the government initiate a two-year Health Sector Reforms Programme to
render fully operational Punjab‚s primary healthcare network of basic health units and rural health centers. The
Punjab Health Department strives to provide affordable, accessible and equitable healthcare services to the general
public. To achieve its objectives, the Health Department provides emergency healthcare services throughout the
province, ensuring the availability of essential drugs, as well as trained staff and vaccinations at each facility.
Standby power was among the basic provisions necessary to execute the programme. Cummins Power Generation,
through its distributor, was able to navigate a number of serious challenges, including a complicated, six-month
long tendering procedure. Further any non-traditional company, trader or coupler was allowed to participate in the
process.
Cummins Sales and Service Pakistan negotiated these challenges by drawing on its experience supplying the health
sector of Pakistan with turnkey diesel and gas generator set solutions. The group had previously supplied
multi-faceted generator set solutions for the Agha Khan Hospital Karachi and Shukat Khanum Cancer Hospital.
It takes an extraordinary measure of political and administrative will to align all 35 district governments to
execute this ambitious health program.
UNITECH OVERCOMES OBSTACLES
TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE SOLUTION
It is easy to talk about providing a complete power solution. The challenge is actually delivering on that
promise. Unitech Electronics Srl., the Cummins Power Generation distributor in Romania, delivered in grand fashion
on behalf of Romanian Cable Systems — Romanian Data Systems. RCS-RDS has served the Romanian market for more than
15 years, offering television, internet, wireless and land-based phone services. Its network in Bucharest, the
nation‚s capital, consists of a series of underground cables.

33 kVA and 38 kVA units sat adjacent to shelters in Bucharest to ensure continuous service.
Burying cables underground may keep services flowing during abnormal weather conditions, but it also presented a
profound logistical challenge for Cummins Power Generation. Unitech supplied 30 generator sets and GTEC panels for
field shelters. The 33 kVA and 38 kVA units were installed next to the shelters, providing backup power in an
attempt to further minimise interruption of service.
“This deal was extremely challenging,” said Mihai Nitsecu, Customer Account Manager for Unitech. “In the end,
RCS-RDS chose our solution based on experience, price and aftermarket service.”
Prior to the Bucharest installation, Unitech had already cultivated a relationship with Romanian Cable Systems —
Romanian Data Systems, having installed 15 generator sets over the last three years. As one of the 100 largest
companies in Romania, RCS-RDS represents an enormous business opportunity for Unitech to deliver complete power
solutions down the road.
